Monica was born the daughter of Richard and Mary Alice (Flynn) Fitzpatrick on May 25, 1916 in Accrington, Lancashire, England. Monica came to the United States to live in 1950 and settled in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked for Remington Rand, Kurtz Hardware, and Mercy Hospital from where she retired. Monica was united in marriage to Frank Adlam before he passed away during World War II.
She is survived and fondly remembered by her sister, Stella Battani of Ankeny; two nieces, Lorraine Battani of Eagan, MN and Susan (Michael) Battani of Johnston, IA; three great-nieces, Samantha, Jacqueline, and Kathryn; and one great-nephew, Alex (April Meyer, fiancé). She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; brother-in-law, Aldo Battani; and two nephews, Michael Battani and Derek Battani.
The family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church or to the American Heart Association.
