He was a retired electrician from International Harvester (1946-1982), a member of the American Legion Dixie Post #220 where he worked and volunteered for many years, a member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge #830, a member and representative of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, and a proud Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace Rush Torstrick and August Torstrick and his sister, Thelma L. Torstrick.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, LaVerna E. (Harlow) Torstrick; a daughter, Pam Thompson (Charlie); a son, Keith W. Torstrick; grandchildren, Meagan L. Thompson, Deven S. Torstrick, and Kevin A. Thompson and extended family, Brandon Nelson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Signature East and to Ray Fryrear, his cousin.
A Celebration of Harold’s Life will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, October 12, 2012 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 – 8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post #220 or the Alzheimer’s Association.
