Wade Anderson Young, M.D., age 51, of Tuscaloosa, died Oct. 9, 2012. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church with the Reverend David Meginniss and the Reverend Doctor Catherine Collier officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will follow the service in Randall Hall at Christ Episcopal Church.
Dr. Young was born April 23, 1961, in Louisville, Ky. He is survived by two daughters, Koury Elizabeth Young and Hallie Anderson Young of Tuscaloosa; his parents, James William Young Jr. and Sarah Bounds Young of Tupelo, Miss.; and his sister, Rachel Elizabeth Young of Huntsville.
Dr. Young graduated magna cum laude from Millsaps College in 1983. He received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1988 and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 1993, Dr. Young completed an Oncology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Dr. Young spent his medical career in practice at the DCH Cancer Center in Tuscaloosa. He was loved by his patients for his bedside manner and compassionate practice of medicine. Dr. Young was a past member of the Board of Directors of Hospice of West Alabama and WUAL Alabama Public Radio.
Wade loved being outdoors. He was an Eagle Scout, member of the Order of the Arrow, and was an avid and talented gardener who took great pride in his tomatoes and beautiful zinnias. He enjoyed Alabama football, reading, and visiting the library. Wade was a loving father whose joy and pride in life were his beautiful daughters.
