At age 85, Roger went home to be with the Lord on October 11. He is
survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Roberta; daughters Diane
(Jonathan) Perry, Brenda (John) Stock and Deb VanKuiken; grandchildren
Matthew (Jennifer) Perry, Rachel (Reuben) Levinsohn, Sarah (Garth)
Nichols, Elizabeth (Keith) Ivkovich, Christiana Perry, Jeremy Stock and
April (Chris) Whitlock; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Roger served in the US Navy during World War II and was stationed in the
Philippines. His career at General Motors began in 1947 and he retired 42
years later as a General Supervisor in the Tool & Die Division. Roger was
an active member at Colonial Village Baptist Church, where he served as a
deacon for over 40 years. Roger was an outstanding craftsman and
woodworking was his passion. Roberta would like to thank all the
wonderful nurses who cared for Roger during his many years of dialysis.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 15, 1:00 p.m. at Colonial
Village Baptist Church, 2010 Boston Blvd., Lansing. The family will
receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral
Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, and one hour prior to the
service at the church.
