Her father was an Irish immigrant and her mother was born to immigrants from Czechoslovakia. Her brother Bill was born in 1921 and younger sister Patricia in 1931, completing the McMahon family.
Mary’s childhood was filled with fond memories of family, friends, riding horses, and showing dogs. After graduating from Tuxedo High School in 1943, she was torn between becoming a veterinarian or nurse, and in 1948 graduated from Holy Name Hospital Nursing School in Teaneck, New Jersey. In 1952, she married Paul J. Mueller, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Throughout her nursing career, Mary held positions as operating room nurse, surgical floor supervisor, industrial nurse for General Motors, office nurse, and school nurse. She was a Registered Nurse in the states of New Jersey, New York, and Virginia.
Mary is survived by her five children: Mark Mueller of Mt Laurel, New Jersey; Thea Mueller Wasche of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Kurt Mueller of Maryland; Glen Mueller of North Carolina; Noel Mueller of Virginia; and their extended families.
She loved her children, animals, chocolate, playing the organ, and took pride in being outgoing, determined, friendly, and in her strong faith and belief in God’s help. She thought of herself as an idealist and a dreamer, and always expected the best of herself.
