John A. Hogan, 42 of the Whiting section of Manchester Twp., passed away Sunday, October 21, in Little Egg Harbor Twp. He was a corrections officer for the State of New Jersey for 14 years. He was the Assistant Scout Master for Troop 350, Whiting and also served as the ‘outing coordinator’. He loved spending time with his boys. John was an avid cook, loved mechanics and was always quick to help others. He served in the U.S. Army.
Born in South Amboy, he resided in Cliffwood Beach for many years before moving here 8 years ago. He is predeceased by his father Barry Hogan in 2007, his mother Marie Polega in 1996 and more recently his grandmother Minnie Polega in May of this year. John is survived by his wife of 16 years, Renee Bengraff Hogan and their two sons, Jack and Jared. Also surviving are his beloved dog Minnie. John also leaves his siblings, Barry & his wife Marlana Hogan of Millstone, Lisa Hogan & her companion Eugene Layne of Holmdel, Jennifer Rivera & her husband Mark of MD., and Patricia Laken & her husband Joel of PA. John is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Jessica, Jason, Jonathan, Joshua, Sophie, and Barry.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 25 from 4-8pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:45am from St Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, Schoolhouse Rd. Whiting. Committal will follow at the St Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Grove Rd. Toms River.
