Lola Mae Aycox, 98, of Albion, passed away Sunday October 21, 2012 at Magnum Health Care in Albion. She was born August 9, 1914 in Abbeville, Georgia to John and Alberta (Everson) Benjamin. She married Reverend James Aycox on April 17, 1938 in Abbeville, Georgia. He preceded her on death June 19, 1971.
Before moving to Albion to live with her daughter Vivian Davis, she resided in Fitzgerald, Georgia where she was a Homemaker and was active at Mount Isaac Baptist Church and was a community leader. She has lived in the Albion area since 1975 at which time she became a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She served on the Mothers Board and was a faithful member of Sunday school and other church functions. She resided in various Adult Foster Care Facilities including the home of the late Rev. Daniel and Ruthie Coney, Beulah Greene, and Ola Mae Dickey. She also resided in the home of Henderson and Lula Harris, Sr. where she planted a pink rose in front of their home in remembrance of her stay.
She is survived by a daughter and son in-law Vivian and Arthur Davis of Albion; two grandchildren Arthian Davis, Atlanta, GA and Adrian Davis, Pontiac, MI; and three great-grandchildren: Jorden, Logan and Christian. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Annie Liza Dephs and Eva Mae Collins, one brother, Masio Benjamin and one great-grandson, Nathaniel Davis.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 12:00 (Noon) at Bethel Baptist Church, 523 Washington Street, Albion, Michigan 49224, and Pastor F. H. Alexander, Jr. officiating and Rev. I.B. Harmon of Fitzgerald, Georgia rendering the Eulogy. Family Hour will be at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery- Albion.
Memorials are suggested to Bethel Baptist Church Youth Department or Southern Care Hospice in Jackson.
