Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Clyde graduated from Suffield Academy in Suffield, Connecticut, and then attended the University of Arizona in Tucson for both his undergraduate and law degrees. He was also the American representative for the British consulting firm Hannon Westwood.
He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Memorial, the Houston Association of Petroleum Landmen, and the Houston Producers Forum. Clyde loved sharing his passion for both politics and sports with his sons, whether it was coaching his boys’ T-ball games when they were young, cheering them from the stands, or sharing a Saturday afternoon at Rice University football games.
Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Smith Vanderbrouk, of Somers, Connecticut, and Miriam Bowman of Phoenix, Arizona, and his stepfather, Junius A. Bowman, also of Phoenix, Arizona. He is survived by his two sons, Robert Christian Vanderbrouk of New York City, and Peter Knowlton Vanderbrouk, of Houston; his sisters, Jane V. Paige of Scottsdale, AZ and Sarah Laurie of Edinburgh, Scotland; and his grandson, Willem Thomas Vanderbrouk.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 1st of November, at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church, 6221 Main Street in Houston, where the Rev. William Brooks, Senior Associate Rector, is to officiate.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family would request donations be sent to the Rotary International, One Rotary Center,
1560 Sherman Ave, Evanston, IL, 60201; or the charity of one’s choice.
