Jim was born in Hammond, Indiana on February 24, 1928. He graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, Indiana, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from DePauw University, and his Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. Jim started his career with Spencer Chemical in Kansas City, Missouri as a marketing manager and moved to Houston in 1967 with Gulf Oil Company. He has enjoyed a long retirement and traveled extensively with his wife, Mary Ellen. Jim enjoyed traveling in the US and also traveled to Europe many times. He enjoyed playing tennis for many years
Jim is survived by his wife of 60years, Mary Ellen Jordan; his two sons Jeff Jordan and Reed Jordan, his daughter Lynn Jordan Horton, and his six grandchildren Melissa Jordan, Jennifer Jordan, Brendan Jordan, Ben Horton, Amy Jordan and Kevin Jordan.
A visitation will be held at the Memorial Oaks Cemetery on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 6-8pm, and a memorial service in celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at 11:30am in the sanctuary of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, with Scott Endress officiating. The church is located at 11140 Greenbay, Houston, Texas 77024. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chapelwood Untied Methodist Church in Jim’s name.
