Lois “Nanny” Crutchfield went home to be with her Lord on October 31, 2012 having just reached her 99th birthday on September 19th. Her family had recently gathered for a happy celebration in her honor at the Glencroft Retirement Community in Glendale, Arizona where she lived. Lois was all things in life that we can only wish to be; a wonderful, sweet, kind lady, wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and very best friend. Rest in peace our lovely angel.
She was born Lois Mildred Huff to parents Jess and Effie in Dustin, Oklahoma on September 19, 1913. She was the oldest of three girls and her wonderful, close sisters include Tressie and Blondel. Lois married Vertis Marion Crutchfield on December 24, 1932 in Roswell New Mexico. They had four children and were very happily married for 71 years. Vertis passed away in 2004.
Throughout her life Lois lived in cities in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Washington State and Texas. She and her husband moved often throughout their lives together, and enjoyed the challenges that change often brings.
She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, church activities, cooking, shopping, reading and “working” puzzles. Lois was a member of the Church of Christ her whole life and attended most recently the Black Canyon congregation.
She loved and so enjoyed all of her family and friends. She was “a favorite person” to many people who knew her even if it was just for a short time. Her kindness sweetness and lovely sense of humor will be so missed.
Lois is survived by her son Michael Vertis Crutchfield, and daughters Carole Ann Oliver and Kathleen Lynn Knoblauch.
