She was born in Waltham, MA on November 27, 1929, the daughter of William and Agnes (Hargadin) Donlan. She was the widow of Thomas O. Kaled, who died in December 1994.
Her early years were spent in Waltham and her family moved to Manchester where she graduated Central High School and Hesser College. She began her career at New England Telephone and later was employed for 35 years at the Mount Carmel Home, where the residents in her care became a “second family”.
Miriam was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Sienna parish. She cherished her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She delighted in knitting for her grandchildren and played a very active role in raising them. She loved the beach from Hampton to York and took a keen interest in the many seacoast lighthouses.
Family members include a son, Thomas O. Kaled Jr. and his wife Nancy of Manchester; two daughters, Victoria Pennell of Manchester and Miriam Liles and her husband Andrew of Manchester; eight grandchildren, Matthew Kaled, Chelsea Kaled, Steven Collette, Amie Collette, Amanda Liles, Sean Liles Devin Pennell and Douglas Pennell; and three great grandchildren. She was pre deceased by a daughter Margaret Anne Kaled in 1992.
Calling hours were on Friday from 5 to 7 PM in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday at 11:30 AM in St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock Sts. Committal prayers were offered at Mount Calvary Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Nursing Home, 235 Myrtle St., Manchester NH 03104.
