Funeral services for Bobby Joe Alexander, 82, of Levelland will be 10:30 am, Monday, November 12, 2012 at Cactus Drive Church of Christ, Levelland,, Texas with Gregory Coffman, officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 PM. He died on Thursday, November 8, 2012 in Lubbock, Texas.
He was born on September 20, 1930 in Stephens County, Oklahoma to Charles and Ona (Landson) Alexander. Bob graduated from Bray High School in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and received an honorable medical discharge.
He married Hazel Justus on October 10, 1952 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church, Levelland and was Vice President and Co-Owner of Dotco Fishing and Rental Tool.
Survivors include his wife: Hazel Alexander of Levelland a son: Bruce Alexander and his wife: Gayle of Mobile, Alabama; his wife: Una Alexander Childress and her husband, George of Levelland, Texas; his sister: Ona McKelvey of Ohio; his grandchildren: James Childress, Amanda Childress Coffman, and her husband, Gregory; Julie Alexander Stewart and her husband, Jason; Jackson Alexander and Meg Alexander; and a great grandson: Thomas Coffman. Bob was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers; Earl Alexander, Claude Alexander, Choc Alexander, Jake Alexander, and Wayne Alexander and a sister; Janie Robinson.
The family suggests memorials to the New Mexico Children’s Home, 1356 New Mexico 236, and Portales, New Mexico.
