George Stephen Bondor, Sr., age 95, passed away on November 9, 2012 just shy of his 96th birthday. George was born in Youngstown, Ohio on November 17, 1916 to Istvan and Magdolna Bondor. He fought WW II in the South Pacific as an Army Field Artillery officer and was part of the force that liberated the Philippines. After the war he settled in Dayton, Ohio where he and his new wife raised four boys. He worked for the Government at Wright-Patterson AFB as a professional licensed mechanical engineer. He enjoyed family activities and these included extended family camping trips through the Canadian Rockies as well as trips to and hikes down into the Grand Canyon. He loved organizing these expeditions. He was very active in his church both in Dayton and in Bellevue at St Margaret's Episcopal Church. George is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lydia Francis Gagyi Bondor. He is survived by his 4 sons, George (Carol) Bondor, Jr., David (Mary) Bondor, Kenneth (Sally) Bondor and Michael (Maureen) Bondor as well as 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. George will be dearly missed by his family. A memorial service will be held November 24 at 3:00 pm at St Margaret's Episcopal Church in Bellevue.
