He was born March 6, 1918 in New Paris, Indiana. He was married for 65 years to Mrs. Marjorie E. Hollar. He graduated from New Paris High School in New Paris, Indiana. He graduated from Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Indiana University School of Dentistry. He served in World War II in the army Dental Corps where he attained the rank of Captain. Following his service in the war Marjorie and Horace established their home and his dental practice in Anderson, Indiana.
Horace was a part of the Madison County Dental Association. Horace’s hobbies included carpentry, antique furniture restoration, painting, travel and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie and his sister, Phyllis Labra. He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Hollar of Anderson, Indiana, and Nancy Herring and husband Paul of Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
A visitation will be held at 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Grace United Methodist Church, New Paris, Indiana. Services will be held at 3 P.M. followed by burial in New Paris Cemetery. Please offer condolences at www.mcgilleystatelinechapel.com.
