The world is a lesser place and heaven has a stronger spirt. Kara died early Sunday, November 11, 2012 at age 35. She had fought flu and then pneumonia for several days. Kara was a wonderful wife, momma, mother, daughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, grand, in-law. She embraced everyone from every definition of family, and was a great friend to so many. She is missed
deeply, and forever and always. Kara was married in summer 2009 to the love of her life, Kelly, nee Wilk (and yes, "we had a great wedding!") She was the proudest momma to Ben since his birth in March 2011, mother to Adri Disman, devoted daughter of Mary Murphy and Rick Ricard, the best sister possible to Rick, Ryan, Quinn and Jenn, happy auntie to Ava and Ella, to any child who would let her, really. Kara’s big smile and bright eyes were always a joy to see, her love for life unmeasured. It was always great to see her lift Ben or any child so easily, to be held so closely, never wanting to let go. To hear her laugh was to hear the sound of joy. Kara fought to the end because she knew life was precious, and she had so much to live for. She was posting her hospital stay to Facebook on Saturday, sure it was just another weird thing in life. She always gave herself to everyone. (In passing she gave so others might live better; she would urge you to register to do the same.) Kara was a dedicated public servant, working for the city for many years at the island water plant (she would tell you it’s great drinking water -- have some in her honour.) The life of someone like Kara deserves to be cried over and laughed over, reflected on, remembered forever. Some of that will happen Friday, November 16th, gathering from 5-9 p.m. with service at 7 p.m., at Trull Funeral Home, 1111 Danforth Ave. at Greenwood. (Cremation has taken place.)
