Sam Houston Kingfisher was born on May 12th, 1965 at the old Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Eagle and Sarah (Agent) Kingfisher. He attended school at Tahlequah. Sam was a multi talented man that made friends easily everywhere he went, and he traveled quite a distance in his lifetime. He worked construction work that took him as far away as New York and Woodstock. He loved his friends, and his family more. Whenever he wasn’t working, Sam loved fishing. He enjoyed relaxing to Bob Marley and the Whalers. Sam could spend an entire day over a pot of coffee and a good conversation. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. He was thoughtful and caring, he always looked to the needs of his fellow man. A very important part of Sam’s life was attending and participating in stomp dances. He was proud of his children, Echohawk and Catauyah. The Great Spirit took Sam under his wings on November 12th, 2012 in Tulsa, OK. Sam was 47 years old. He will be greatly missed by all who looked out their kitchen window, and saw Sam’s smile coming up their driveway.
Sam is preceded in death by his mother and father, one brother Randall Cummings, and one sister, Bonnie Kingfisher-Romero.
