Mrs. Arledge was a dynamic woman; she was raised in Poplarville and graduated from Poplarville High School in 1945. Leta strived to make the world around her a more beautiful place. Her love of painting, cooking, and decorating reflected her warm personality. Leta spent many years as a merchandiser with Wilson Jewelry Company, working mainly in Texas and Louisiana. Upon her return to Poplarville, she owned a jewelry and gift shop and faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Poplarville.
Leta will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, J.V. Ashe; one son, J.W. Ashe, and several brother and sisters.
Survivors include her loving husband, Kermit Arledge of Poplarville, MS; one daughter, Shirley (Leonard) Bowen of Houston, TX; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2012 at White Funeral Home, 315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, Mississippi 39470 with interment following in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and have visitation after 5:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
