Amelia Joyce Baker was born on April 8, 1926 in Fresno, California to Edmundo and LuLu Sasselli. She died in Visalia, California, on November 16, 2012. One day Joyce was introduced to a local cowboy as he tried to buy a bull from her father. Some say that Milton Baker left that day with much more than he bargained for. Milton and Joyce were married on April 6, 1946 and raised their two children Darlene and Ronnie at the Bar B Baker Ranch in Elderwood. Joyce lived a busy life. Many of you will remember her as the feisty bus driver who ruled her bus with an iron fist and many packs of gum. Others will remember her and Milton as active members of Woodlake High school athletics, selling tickets at football and basketball games, or from her Rodeo Days working the Lady Lions Booth. Still others will remember her generosity and the countless hours she spent crocheting blankets for family and friends of all ages.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Milton, her son Ronnie, her brother Myrel, and sister Emma. Joyce is survived by her daughter and son in law Darlene and Wayne Hardcastle, her grandchildren Trevor and Natalie Hardcastle and Tara and Robert Norman, her great grand children Landon and Brogan Hardcastle, brothers and sisters Tom and Helen Sasselli and Roy and Virginia Schwabenland and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce will be remembered as a caring, sassy women who loved her family and community deeply and took extreme pride in everything that she did.
The family would like to thank Barbara, Patsy, Michelle, Freda, and Carmen for all their love and care during Joyce's three years at the Manor House.
