RICHARD STANLEY PAPIN of Riverside CA, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 21st. Richard was born March 6th, 1939 in Virginia, Minnesota to Stanley and Lillian Papin and had one sister, Shirley Labbee. Richard and his family moved to Inglewood, California in 1942. Richard was an adventurous child with a inquisitive nature and ambitious dreams. He attended Inglewood High where he excelled, receiving his first Industrial Arts Department Award in 1955. Richard had many interests including chemistry, math, cars, and watching the friday night football games. He was an active member in various clubs such as the Inglewood 13-20 Club, the Greek Gods S.W.L.A., and The Vagrants Car Club. Richard joined the United States Army in 1962 serving as Private First-Class. While being stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma he attended the Field Artillery Missile Training Center (FAMTC) where he completed the Redstone Mechanical Material Maintenance Course which trained selected enlisted men to assemble, install, maintain, adjust on-missile guidance control systems as well as assemble missiles and perform propulsion, pneumatic mechanical system checks. Richard completed additional courses in Battle Indoc., Military Justice and Non-Judicial Punishment. He was an expert Riflemen, Carbine Sharpshooter and received a Good Conduct Medal. After the Army he continued his education in Chemical Engineering and for a short period attended UCLA. Richard went on to become a Chemist, he also pursued a part-time career in Real Estate as a Realtor and Investor, in Riverside. While working as a Chemist and Sales Manager in Industrial Coatings he provided many companies, including some of the top Hotels & Casinos in Las Vegas, with the colors you see today. Richard will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, and intelligence. He had a love for family, friends, his dog Lucy, golf, football and dark chocolate. Richard is survived by his best friend and devoted daughter, Courtney Papin (Thomas); loving sister Shirley Labbee (Don); his wife Christine Papin; step-children Bridget Salampessy (Ron), Joe Simon (Christen), Nikk Silva (deceased); four step-grandchildren; family and friends. A memorial viewing for family and friends will be Sunday, December 2nd from 5-8 p.m. at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave. in Riverside California.
