Sopheap Chann Neak, 55, of Austin, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 after a courageous one year battle with Leiomyosarcoma. She was born on April 12, 1957 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Sombath and Lackana Promchann. Sopheap came to the United States in 1981. She immediately learned English and started working to support her family. She was strong and independent. There was nothing she couldn’t accomplish. Sopheap was a wonderful mother and a loving grandmother. She always had a positive attitude and took nothing for granted.
Sopheap became a member of several churches in the community such as Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Angels Healing and Recovery, and also Powerhouse of Praise. She lived life to the fullest and didn’t let her illness get in the way.
Sopheap was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Vanessa Neak. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sokhatavee Angel Thet and husband, Tom; son, Chansokundara Christopher Neak; granddaughters, Lackana Sophie Thet and Sophear Jasmine Thet; grandsons, Maximus Lee McCallion and Brandon Lee McCallion; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
