Lois Delight Wiedbrauk, 86 years old; a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peaceably with family present at the Lansing Hospice, Stoneleigh Residence, December 2, 2012. She was the daughter of James F. Courier and Ethel Ingalls, born and raised in Muskegon, MI, spending many summers with her grandparents, Delbert and Rosa Ingalls in Charlevoix, MI. After graduating from Central Michigan University, she taught school at Tawas City. On March 31, 1950, she married Walter Wiedbrauk, and they had two daughters, Sheila and Denise. Her teaching assignments later were in Hale and Buchanan, MI, Michigan State University and the Lansing Schools at Sexton, Walter French and Otto. She continued her education at Perdue, Saint Mary’s of Notre Dame and Michigan State University to receive her Masters degree in education.
Her interests were in traveling, oil painting and flower gardening. Her travels included China, Spain, France, New Zealand and many trips to Canada and across the USA. She participated in oil painting classes at St. Mary’s, Leland Beaman at Jackson, MI, MSU, Paulette Stephens in Gulf Shores, AL, Joyce Pike from California with two weeklong sessions in Traverse City and a weeklong session in Scottsdale, AZ. She cared for extensive flower gardens at her home, enjoyed Japanese flower arranging classes and was a member of the Greater Lansing Garden Club.
Lois will be lovingly missed by Walter Wiedbrauk, her husband of 62 years; daughters Sheila Adams, San Antonio, TX and Denise (Don) Slabaugh, Okemos, MI; grandchildren Cathryne (Wade) McNamara, Brandon (Benee) Adams, Heather Adams and Danielle Slabaugh, all of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren Brylen Adams and Lucia McNamara; sister Leone Mick and niece Dianne Underwood, nephew James Livingston from Bellaire, and cousin Don (Kay) Heise from Charlevoix, MI.
The family will receive friends at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River , East Lansing on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, December 6, 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Penelope Swartz of Peoples Church officiating. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Okemos. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing, Stoneleigh Residence, 4052 Legacy Pkwy, Ste. 200, Lansing, MI 48911 in memory of Lois.
