Visitation, followed by a Rosary will be held at the Swan-Law Funeral Director’s, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church 5354 S. US Hwy 85/87, Security, Colorado at 10: am on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
“Geri” was born in Lower Shaft, Pennsylvania to Jeremiah F. and Anna M. (McSurdy) Coyle on July 7, 1929.
The Family moved to Elizabeth, NJ where Geraldine attended local schools and later became a licensed beautician. Mrs. Riccardelli also worked as a waitress at several Elizabeth area diners, such as the Bayway, Park Jersey and the Maple Diner.
After marrying Anthony Riccardelli, they moved to the Madison Park section of Parlin, NJ. Mrs. Riccardelli was very active with the PTA in the area, frequently baking and catering school functions.
In 1968 the family moved to Security, Colorado. Mrs. Riccardelli worked as the cook for the Hill Haven Nursing Home for five years. She then became the pantry supervisor/cook for the “Golden Bee Pub” at the Broadmoor. During her twenty plus years there, she introduced several dishes to their menu. Known to some family members as “Mitzi”, she was renowned for her cooking and baking. Her favorite room in the house was the kitchen and she loved to entertain family and friends. She was generous with her love and cared deeply for those less fortunate. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, followed closely by the 4th of July and St. Patrick’s Day!
After her retirement, Mrs. Riccardelli was able to enjoy traveling and spending time with the loves of her life – her grand children and great grand children.
Mrs. Riccardelli is survived by her sons Gary John (Maureen) of Rahway, NJ and Anthony John (Candida) of Falcon, Colorado. Grand children: Michael (Sheri) Riccardelli of Barnegat, NJPaul Madrid and Shawn Madrid of Colorado Springs, COValerie (Jacob) Hause of Falcon, COAnthony John (Jessica) of Falcon, CO Great Grand children: Kyle, Sara, Alexander, Paul, Madison, Mackenzie, Zechariah, Nathanial, Redemption & Nehemiah.
She is predeceased by her husband Anthony, her infant son Carl J., sisters: Thelma, Anna, Mae and brothers: Jeremiah, Eugene, Leo and Ronald.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends who have loved her for so long and will miss her greatly.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Geraldine’s name to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave. Suite 600, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 or to a charity of their choice.
