Melba Cameron Sweet – born in Houston County, Alabama in September 1916, and a resident of Mobile since 1948, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012. She was born of the late Dayton A. and Ammie F. Cameron of Dothan, Alabama. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Dr. Franklyn H. Sweet. She was a homemaker, member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church since 1950, and a charter member of the Cosmopolitan Club, a social organization for newcomers to Mobile, in the early 1950’s. Survivors include her son, Richard Franklyn (Toni) Sweet; grandsons, David Franklyn (Angie) Sweet of Mobile, Alabama and Andrew Richard Sweet (dear friend Sandra Godbey) of Bay Minette, Alabama; great-granddaughters, Samantha Julia Sweet and Katherine Elizabeth Sweet, both of Mobile, Alabama; dearly loved niece, Susan Tatom; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank devoted sitters and all the staff at Allen Memorial Home for the loving care she received from them during her final months. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St, Mobile, Alabama on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 3704 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, Alabama on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Old Spring Hill Cemetery on Mordecai Lane.
