ALLEN KALANI DAVIS, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on November 28, 2012. Allen was born on August 11, 1937 to Alma S. Jay and Samuel K. Davis. He attended Lanakila, Royal School, and Kawananakoa, and graduated from McKinley High School in 1957. He received a Certificate in Hotel Operations in 1962, Airline Restaurant Operations in 1964, and was manager of the airport restaurant chain of International Host for several years. He also managed several local hotels and motels throughout Honolulu and eventually went back to airport operations with Marriott and the Sky Chef chains. He was also formerly employed as a funeral director at Borthwick Mortuary.
Allen was an avid cat fancier and an active member of the Himalayan Society and Cat Fancier Association.
When he finally retired, he tried to catch up on the time he missed while working. You name it, he tried to do it. He was also an avid genealogist. Allen was a friendly guy; everyone who came in contact with him considered him a true friend.
Allen is survived by brothers, Samuel L. Davis and wife Betty, Steven J.P. Davis and wife, Loretta, and sister, Linda G. Robinson, as well as many loving cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Borthwick Mortuary-Makai Chapel. Service will be at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at Diamond Head Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome. Aloha attire is suggested.
