Betty Jane was born January 31, 1944 to Virgil William and Lena (Stover) Barnett in Tahlequah, OK. She graduated from Oaks High School and worked a variety of jobs from nurse aide at Wagoner Nursing center to a cook. The one thing you could be sure of, a beautiful smile and a wonderful, home cooked treat awaited you at the home of “Aunt B”. There was nothing more dear to Betty Jane than her family. Every one of them was treated to their favorite food on their birthday, whether it was her flaky fried pies or her delicious fried chicken, chocolate gravy and biscuits, or lasagna, Aunt B made the best. She was gifted with a needle and did quilting, crocheting, all while tuned in to RFD listening to country or gospel music. Always loving, always bubbling over with happiness, Betty Jane was the neighbor everyone enjoyed hearing from. There were no strangers in Betty’s world, her door was open to everyone. She had a wide variety of kids call her house, their home. She always had a hug, a smile and a loving pair of arms to hold them. A Christian by faith, Betty Jane attended the Rocky Ford Community Church. The Lord called Betty home from her family and friends here, on December 2nd, 2012 in Tahlequah, OK. Betty Jane was 68 years old. She is already missed by the many family and friends who knew and loved her.
