Paul F. Schaefer, a retired marketing consultant for New York State Electric & Gas, died Saturday in his Eggertsville home. He was 82.
A lifelong resident of the Buffalo area, Mr. Schaefer attended Stella Niagara and Canisius High School.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1951 to 1953 and later a member of Post 49, AMVETS.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society and a Eucharistic minister at St. Benedict Catholic Church. He was the recipient of the St. Joseph the Worker Award from the Buffalo Catholic Diocese.
Mr. Schaefer was an active volunteer at Altamont House, a transitional residence for veterans that provides counseling and temporary shelter.
His hobbies included N-gauge trains, playing cards, music, crossword and Sudoku puzzles.
He was the widower of Mary Joyce Schaefer.
Survivors include three daughters, Dianne Gordon, Virginia Horvath and Mary Lynn; four sons, Brian, Gerald, Alan and Steven; and a brother, Walter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Benedict Church, 1317 Eggert Road at Main Street, Eggertsville.
