He was born in Keene, NH, August 15, 1936, the son of Ralph C. and Josephine (De Mange) Hunt. He grew up in Marlborough, attending local schools and was a 1956 graduate of Marlborough High School. He resided in Marlborough for many years, later moving to Keene and in 1993, to Swanzey.
Mr. Hunt worked for 33 years as "Redi-Mix" driver with Arthur Whitcomb Company in North Swanzey. He also served in the Army National Guard.
He was a longtime member of the Federated Church in Marlborough and was an active volunteer at the church, helping with their many projects and fund raisers. He was known for his skills in tinkering, and fondly as a "professional dubber". He was always willing to help others, putting their needs before his own. He enjoyed NASCAR and wrestling.
Survivors include his children; Kelly J. Ryll and her husband, E. Alan, of West Chesterfield, NH, David H. Hunt, Jr. of Buffalo City, WI, Norman C. Hunt and his wife, Linda, of Swanzey, eight grandchildren; Courtney C. Ryll, Nathan H. Ryll, Betsy (Hunt) Gray, Cassandra Hunt, Aurora Magnuson-Hunt, Robert H. Hunt, Adam C. Hunt, Elizabeth K. Hunt, and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Pauline Baldwin, of Houston, TX, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. His wife of 35 years, Shirley L. (Caron) Hunt, died May 6, 1994. A sister, Gail C. Morris, died earlier.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Federated Church of Marlborough, 16 Pleasant Street, Marlborough. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Route 32, Swanzey. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Hunt’s memory to one’s favorite charity of choice.
