Dr. William James Kilman, 82, of Coppell, Texas, passed away at home on December 10, 2012. Born in 1929 to James Robert Kilman and Margaret Virginia Kilman (née Collins), Bill was married to Bess Margaret McMahon in 1952, and had two daughters, Rebecca Ann and Katherine Margaret.
Bill received his undergraduate degree from TCU in 1952, and his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1955. Bill then specialized in and began to teach radiology, and became an Associate Professor of Radiology at Southwestern Medical Center. He was a dedicated teacher whose residents awarded him Golden Apple Teaching awards year after year. He worked at Southwestern Medical Center for forty years.
Bill’s family was the most important thing in his life. He loved taking photographs of his family, or as he called it, “lurking.” He was also a woodworker. He made a clock for every room in his home, and kept them chiming every hour.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Bess Margaret Kilman, daughter, Rebecca Ann Houston, and brother, Donald Ray Kilman. He is survived and remembered by his daughter and son-law-, Katherine and David Maguire, brother John Kilman, and grandchildren Rachel and Daniel Maguire.
A short memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2012 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southwestern Medical Center.
