John "Jack" Rein was born on January 22, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to his parents Lyle Joseph and Katherine Elizabeth Rein. He attended the Ford Trade School then worked for the Ford Motor Company as a Tool and Dye Coordinator. During this time, he was working at the Pilot Plant and attending St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where he lived in Dearborn. Jack had strong work ethic which he carried with him throughout his life. He honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Technician Fifth Class.
He married the love of his life, Ms. Judy McInerney on June 16, 1951 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan. The raised five children: Maureen (Gary) Estermyer, Colleen Klaus, Michael (Jennifer) John and the late Patrick Rein. They had seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Of all that he did in life, his family was always the most important to him and he took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack always looked forward to family get togethers where he would be able to spend time with his beloved family.
Jack enjoyed sports and especially loved cheering on his Detroit Red Wings and University of Michigan Wolverines for football. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed playing cards and excelled at gin rummy as well as billiards. He was a quiet man and a consummate gentleman, considerate of other people and with a good sense of humor . Jack could frequently be found tinkering with things. He was a do-it-yourself handyman and loved working around the house.
His church and Catholic faith were always central at each stage of his life. From his baptism to his wedding and all through his life, his parishes played a central role in his life. He was an active member of St. Damian Catholic Church is Westland, Michigan for much of his later life.
