He was born June 28, 1933 in Oneonta the son of Donald and Hilda (Hungerford) Hitchcock. He married Mary Irish on June 11, 1999.
Ed served in the US Marine Corp from 1952 to 1955.
He was a member of the Milford American Legion and a life member of VFW Post 9132, Schenectady
For many years, Ed was a truck driver working for Collins Construction. He also was a well known area stock car driver.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hitchcock of Maryland; his children, Jason D. Hitchcock of Maryland, Virginia Hitchcock of Schenectady, John Hitchcock of Ohio, Elizabeth Hitchcock of Washington, DC, Robert Hitchcock of Schenectady, Douglas Hitchcock of Schenectady, Susan Hitchcock of Schenectady, Edmund Hitchcock of Cape Coral, FL., and his former wife, Loretta Caulkins Hitchcock of Schenectady; a sister, Joyce Lawton Bullhead City, AZ; nine grandchildrean and one great grandchild, and several half brothers and sisters.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Crosby.
Friends are invited to join Ed’s family at the Milford American Legion on Friday December 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM where an American Legion Memorial Service will be held. Inurnment will be at a later date in Gerald BH Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
