Goldie Addobati, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 in Sacramento at the age of 80 with her daughter by her bedside. Born March 12, 1932 in Canonsburg, PA, the daughter of the late John and Helen Kartik, Goldie married her high school sweetheart, Jack Addobati on June 23, 1951 in her home town. Growing up she always dreamed of moving to warm and sunny California and she fulfilled her wish when they moved to Sacramento in 1952. Together for 48 years, they made Sacramento their home where they raised their son Michael and daughter Victoria. Goldie dedicated her life to her family as a loving wife and mother. After the kids went to college, she worked as a bookkeeper for Hubbert, Shanley and Lee Attorneys at Law for several years, retiring in 1994. She and Jack enjoyed long weekends at their Sea Ranch home as well as trips to Tahoe, Mexico and Hawaii with family and friends and the special family trip to Europe in 1981.
Goldie seemed much younger than her 80 years. She was very active up until her last days. She loved dogs, movies, painting with watercolor, keeping in touch with long distance relatives on Facebook, going to church on Sundays, playing POGO game on her computer with her glass of wine at 5pm every day, going to aerobics and bowling with her team on the league once a week. She cherished her time with her dear friends playing pinocle twice a month. Beautiful inside and out, she was always interested in people and had a knack for asking direct and frank questions to get to know them better that were often hilarious. Her sense of humor and strength were unique to her for she was truly special. She brought us joy and laughter and we are grateful she touched our lives with her wonderful spirit, sweetness and spunk. She will be greatly missed.
Goldie was predeceased in death by her son Michael in 1988, her beloved husband Jack in 1999, her brother John Kartik and sister Margaret Udodow. She is survived by her daughter Victoria, as well as her loving cousin Irene Addobati, dear brother in law Bob Addobati and numerous close nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews in California, Arizona and on the east coast.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial mass to be held on Saturday, December 29th at 2pm at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael, CA 95608. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Mercy General Hospital's Heart and Vascular Institute or the SPCA. Private interment to be held at East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento.
