Ramiro G. Cortez, age 65, passed away Sunday December 16, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX. Ramiro was a graduate of Bartlett High School where he played football for the Bulldogs. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ramiro was a little league coach, a Bartlett City Councilman, a member of the Lion’s Club, and the American Legion. He co-owned Slims Grocery and Laundromat in Bartlett, TX, and he worked at the Bartlett Tribune and Taylor Daily Press for many years.
Ramiro is survived by his loving wife, Mary L. Cortez; his children, Elaine C. and Eric G. Woods and Ursula and Ramon Fuentes; his granddaughter, Kristian C. Woods; and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday December 19, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett, TX with a rosary at 7pm.
Mass will be held on Thursday December 20, 2012 at 10am at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, TX with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger, TX
