Lupe was born in Fresno, California on March 1, 1931 to Ignacio and Carmen Ruiz. She grew up in Fresno, attending, Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Edison High School in 1949. On February 3, 1951, Lupe married her high school sweetheart, Ignacio Daniel Bencomo and they made their home in Fresno while Ignacio served in the United States Army. Lupe was employed by Pacific Bell as a Communications Engineer for 23 years, retiring on December 1, 1990. In 1993 Ignacio and Lupe moved to Visalia to make their home. Lupe was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Visalia. Her greatest enjoyment was her family, loving and caring for her husband, seven children and seven grandchildren whom she helped raise. Lupe enjoyed cooking traditional Mexican cuisine and she spent many years perfecting her carrot cake. She also enjoyed crocheting blankets for her family, sewing, and gardening - Lupe could make anything grow. Ignacio built Lupe a patio that she loved to sit on and watch the fish in her Koi pond. She also enjoyed animals. Lupe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lupe leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 61 years, Ignacio of Visalia; seven children, Benjamin Bencomo of Visalia, Yolanda Bencomo of San Diego, Linda Bencomo of Fresno, Gary Bencomo and wife, Laura of Los Gatos, Patty Bencomo of Visalia, Becky Bencomo of Visalia and Pami and husband Denis of Moorpark and seven grandchildren, Brandon and wife, Cat, Jordan, Christopher, Danielle, Mathew, Michael and Patrick.
