Mr. Wiegmann, born March 16, 1921 to Mary Packard Wiegmann and Fredrick W. Wiegmann in St. Mary Parish and lived in Baton Rouge from 1950 to 1999 when he moved to Lake Charles, LA.
Mr. Wiegmann received a BS in Agriculture from Southwestern Louisiana College (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1941 and M.S. in Agriculture Economics from LSU in 1950 and a PHD from the University of Iowa at Ames, Iowa.
After graduating from USL he worked as a Health Inspector for the Louisiana Department of Health. He became head of the Department of Agriculture Economics and Agribusiness in 1959 at LSU and retired in 1981, and was named Professor Emertus when he retired.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946 during World War II.
He leaves to honor his memory, his daughter, Janet Sue Calzada (John), brothers, Elbridge of Shreveport; C.H. "Joe" of Centerville; Carl Bauer of Lafayette; sisters and brother-in-law, Bertha and Joey Stoner; Faye Barnhart and Paul and Edna Toerner; many nieces and nephews, especially Barbara Peck and Paula Anne Metts. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mae Doris Toerner Wiegmann, his son, John Frederick and parents.
Pallbearers are, Garland Peck, Eugene Primeaux, Mike Toerner, Rick Toerner, Freddie Hannie and Paul Toerner. Honorary Pallbearers are, Ebbie Wiegmann, Robert Primeaux and Joey Stoner.
Special thanks to his devoted friend and caretaker, Nhan, and to Dr. Ron Lewis who took such good care of him.

His service will be 12 noon, Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Michael Goldman will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 11: 30 a.m. until time of service.
