Carlos C. “Carl” Correia, age 90, of Swansea passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 in Country Gardens in Swansea. He was the husband of Bertha (Costa) Correia to whom he had been married for 71 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late John and Jacintha (de Jesus) Correia, he has been a resident of Swansea for over fifty years. He was educated in local schools and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Mr. Correia was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, where served in the Medical Corps during the Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge in Fall River. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Mr. Correia went on to become a Pharmacists Assistant for over 40 years at the Brockton VA Hospital.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a brother Armando Correia of Tiverton, RI and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Dionizio, Antonia Correa, and Sarah, Bento, John, Joseph and his twin brother Americo Correia.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:30 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Burial and visiting hours are private.
