Fred Manek, age 84, passed away December 29, 2012. He was born March 1, 1928 to Michael and Anna Manek in Harrah, Oklahoma. Fred graduated from Harrah High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and in the Reserves until 1956, leaving as the rank of Sergeant. He married his wife, Arleta in March of 1963. He worked most of his life as a carpenter and retired from Tom Hoch Interiors in 1990. He enjoyed his retirement tinkering with various projects and taking care of their acreage. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, six older brothers and one step daughter Barbara Chatham and one grandson Johnny Glen Chatham. He is survived by his wife Arleta of Piedmont, two sons, Kelly and wife Ronnie of Oklahoma City and Patrick of Piedmont, one daughter Janine Roath and husband Lane of Oklahoma City, one step son Ben Adkins and wife Nancy of Oklahoma City, three grandchildren, Deborah Carpenter and husband Ken of Mustang, Kristin Adkins of Dallas, and Brian Adkins of Tulsa, two great-grandchildren Grant and Garrett Carpenter of Mustang, and two sisters Mary Erbin and Susie Fillips of Harrah.
