Pastor, Chaplain and Friend Carl J. McClellan, went to his heavenly home Thursday, December 27, 2012 during his sleep at his home in Lancaster. He was 82 years of age being born September 14, 1930 in Canton, Ohio.
Carl was a graduate of Johnson University and Christian Theological Seminary. He pastored churches in Ohio at; Palestine, Zanesville, Obetz and most recently was named Pastor Emeritus of Fairfield Christian Church where he and Kathryn served twelve years as director of the Barnabas Ministry. During his seminary and clinical pastoral training he pastored Christian churches in; Brodhead, KY., Keensburg, IL., Trafalgar, IN., and Topeka, Kansas. Carl was chaplain for the Ohio Youth Commission for 22 years at both Fairfield School for Boys and Training Center for Youth. He will be remembered as a friend to all he met saying he liked people because God made them and complimented others for their smiles.
He leaves his beloved wife Kathryn with 62 years of marriage, a son Tim (Cynthia) McClellan of Marion, IN. and daughter Deborah (Larry) Graf of Lancaster, grandchildren Christina (Wylie) Burns of Minneapolis, Joshua McClellan and Matthew (Angel) McClellan of Lancaster, Peter (Karrie) McClellan of Louisville, KY., and Liz (Michael) Simmons of Wilmore, KY., eight great-grandchildren, special sister and brother-in-law Faye (Don) Ridgeway of Pekin, IL., and dear friend Nancy.
He was preceded in death by Deborah’s twin brother, John Mark McClellan, (Shirley) and grandson David McClellan.
A celebration of his life will be held at Fairfield Christian Church 3:00 P.M. Monday, December 31, 2012 and the family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services. Burial will be at Forest Rose Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home is charge of arrangements.
