Jerry was born on May 15, 1920 in New York City, the son of Gennaro and Marie Romanelli.
He married Frances Lauricella on February 16, 1947, and she passed away on October 22, 1977.
Jerry served in the US Army during World War II, and was the recipient of three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.
He retired as a custodian from the New York City Public School System.
He moved here in 1973, and over the years worked for several local businesses.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church.
He is survived by his children, Marie (Robert) Anselmo of Monroe, NJ, Christine Romanelli of Oneonta, Bernadette (William) Roberts of Oneonta, and Stephen (Barbara) Romanelli of Oneonta; 13 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son Jerry Romanelli, two brothers and three sisters.
A funeral mass will be offered on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Oneonta with the Rev. David Mickiewicz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 1:15 PM where military honors will be accorded.
