Helen was predeceased by her son, Theodore C. Lazarides, and her husband of 64 years, Constantine Lazarides who passed away only two weeks earlier. She is survived by her daughter Cristina and husband David E. Hendrix, her daughter-in-law Patricia, her four granddaughters, Amy and husband Manish Sharma, Melissa and husband Nick Hamilton, Katie and Alexandra, her three great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Alexander and Evelyn, and her sister Mary Song.
Helen was born in Morenci, Michigan, on June 7, 1926, to James and Carrie Katsoris. She was an alumna of Gorham Fayette High School, Class of 1944. Helen attended the University of Michigan, where she met her future husband, and graduated with a BA in Education. In 1950, the couple moved to Argentina where they made many friends, and Helen devoted her time to being a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Buenos Aires, where she volunteered her time. Helen was also an avid golfer, studied ikebana, enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and gardening, and was a member and officer of the local garden club. In 1982, Helen and Costa moved to Houston and joined Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where Helen volunteered her time and home to organize Bible Study groups.
Visitation will be held from 6-8p.m., Thursday, January 3, with funeral services at 10a.m., Friday, January 4, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery.
