Justin Lee Lundell, 31, was greeted by the loving embrace of his mother as he left this mortal life peacefully on Friday, January 4, 2013. Justin was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on August 2, 1981, to Bruce R and Brenda Lee Lundell. Justin lived in Tooele, Ferron, Ephraim, and Spanish Fork, Utah, and, most recently, Mesa, Arizona. Justin graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1999. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Justin was passionate about music and played a variety of instruments, ranging from the cello, guitar and bass, and loved to sing. Justin played in bands wherein he composed and played his own music. He had a kind heart and enjoyed being with his friends. Justin also had a free spirit, was independently minded, and quite adventurous. The combination of his unique verbosity and philosophical approach to life often made for lively conversation. Despite his struggles and challenges, he recognized his need for spiritual and physical growth and sought changes in his life.
Justin is survived by his father and stepmother, Bruce R Lundell and Coleen Van Dyke; two older brothers, Jason and Trent; grandmother, Blanche Sampson; nephews and niece, Jared, Julia, and James; and girlfriend, Chasidi Halley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Lee Lundell; and grandparents, Floyd A. and Anna Laura Lundell, and Leroy A. Heath. Tribute services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, in Mesa, Arizona, at the Dignity Memorial Melcher Mortuary Mission Chapel.
"The Release"
On January 17, 2013, Justin became an “official free spirit”. Justin’s ashes were released to the subtle southeast winds at sunset high atop our mountain ridge in the back yard. Everyone who knew Justin, knew that he always rode the edge of the envelope, that he wrote his own music, wrote his own poetry, and that he operated under Justin’s rules……………………..“un-conventional” to the very end.
We had a gentle breeze to our backs, the sunset in our faces – the view from high atop the rocks was awesome and one that Justin so enjoyed. We all took turns throwing his ashes into the wind until the box was empty. With each toss, we wished him happiness, we told him how much we loved him, and we all said our final good-byes.
We took the liberty of releasing Rocky and Lucy’s ashes right after we released Justin’s. We knew how much Justin loved both of the Boxers and know how much they loved him. It seemed the right time to release them all together.
Thank you all for your support through this very trying time. We all must move forward, we must each work our way through the grieving process.
The Lundell Family
Our joys will be greater
Our love will be deeper
Our lives will be fuller
Because we shared these moments.
