Willie “Bill” Howard Thomas, Jr., 71, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville with burial and Military Honors in Veteran Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Fields and the Rev. Cecil Gray will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Wednesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. They ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Rick Mayers, 211 East Virginia Lane, Macon, GA 31217.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie Thomas , by his parents, Willie Howard Thomas, Sr. and Mary Ruth Baskette Thomas and by his stepson, Matt Kersey. Born in Macon, Mr. Thomas served with the U. S. Army and was owner and operator of Jet 1-Hour Photo. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy where he was very active in the life of his church.
Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Thomas of Gray; his son, Kevin Thomas of Macon; seven grandchildren; his brothers, Rick (Georgia) Mayers and Randy Thomas, all of Macon; his sisters, Jean (Rev. Cecil) Gray, of Savannah, Connie (Ricky) Wall of Thomaston and Joan Thomas and Linda (David) Braswell, all of Macon; several nieces and nephews and his stepsons, John (Britany) Kersey and Steve (Katie) Kersey.
