Carl Raymond Driskill went to be with his Lord January 6, 2013 in Allen, TX. He was born June 4, 1938 in Thomas, OK to John Raymond Driskill and Cora Stambaugh Driskill. Ray graduated from White Deer High School in 1956 where he was involved in football and theater, and received multiple state level awards in each. He played football until a knee injury occurred while playing for North Texas State University. He then transferred to West Texas State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a Masters in Biochemistry.
Throughout his life Ray loved to snow ski, sail, watch football, and play all sorts of board games. He particularly loved doing these activities with his children and grandchildren. Over the past 15 years or more, you could find him and his wife, until her untimely death, up at 5 AM or so reading God’s word and sipping coffee. He would then spend time with friends and colleagues from all over the country on the phone discussing world and U.S. events.
Ray was an inventor and creator who had several patents and copyrights to his credit. He loved having conversations with family and friends, and was known to be a character with a quick wit, and engaging personality. He was truly a man that loved his children, grandchildren, family, his beloved wife, his church, and his friends.
At the beginning of his career, Ray ran the hospital lab in Dumas, Texas and then Amarillo, Texas. Throughout his life, his career spanned chemistry, teaching, and he had a wonderful entrepreneurial spirit which he used to create multiple companies. His business life took him all over the world to places such as the Dominican Republic, Europe, and China.
Ray and Boots were members of First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, whose members cared for and loved both of them. He was also dearly loved by his family, his friends, and his high school classmates.
He is survived by his son, Kent Driskill (Angie), daughters Karla (Rob) Lynch and Kara (Chris) Berry; grandchildren Ben (Hailey) Lynch, Daniel (Courtney) Lynch, Ian Lynch, and Sara Driskill and great-grandchildren Emily, Asher and Charlotte.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, John and Cora Driskill; brother, Don Driskill and his loving wife, Nitia Boots Driskill.
