Laura Louise Cahill Solis was born April 5, 1964 in Santa Rosa where she lived all of her young years until leaving for college. She loved being involved in multiple activities and made many friends along the way through her involvement. Her first love was dancing beginning with tap and ballet. She continued with ballroom dancing with Burkart’s Dance Studio where she went on to teach and eventually create a ballroom dance class at UC Davis. Laura also loved ice skating at the Redwood Empire Ice Arena and skated in the annual Christmas Ice Shows. While at Ursuline High School, Laura joined the Catholic Media Ministry, a group that created teen messages for the radio. She decided she wanted to teach and received her Master’s degree at Sacramento State University in special reading. Laura developed her own system of helping students to reach their potential in reading skills and eventually gave seminars to teachers in several other states. When Laura was struck with neuro-endochrine carcinoma in 2009, her teaching career came to a sudden end. As soon as she was able, Laura jumped into more involvement with a weekly bible study, also mothers in touch group for high school students, and of course her beloved St. Joseph Marello church. Laura was blessed to have two beautiful girls, Robyn (20) and Sarah (17) who continue to make her proud with their accomplishments. Before her illness, Laura enjoyed extensive travel with her mom, her family outings and most of all with the love of her life, her husband Steven Solis. Laura’s strong and lingering faith has taken her to the Lord where she will be a leader once more in preparing for our joyous reunion. We all love her so much and will miss the everlasting joy and happiness she created in each of us. Farewell our beautiful girl.
