Maudlyn Winter Jewett Markert, wife of the late Frederick Jason Markert, died peacefully on January 19, 2013, surrounded by family in Macon, Georgia. Born on July 14, 1922 to the late Felix Comer Jewett and Ione Mercer Jewett, formerly of Clinton, Georgia, she graduated from Jones County High School in the class of 1939 and after graduation attended Wesleyan Conservatory. She was a member of Clinton United Methodist Church and a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Frederick Jason Markert, II and her only sibling, Martha Ione Jewett Pugh. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick Comer Markert and his wife Freda of Leesburg, Georgia; Phillip Jewett Markert and wife Carolyn of Flowery branch, Georgia; and Earle Braxton Markert of Macon, Georgia; five grandchildren, Angela Markert Powell of Marietta, Georgia, Phillip Jewett Markert, Jr. and wife Bessie of Kennesaw, Georgia, Jennifer Winter Markert Eichenberger and husband Dr. Theron Eichenberger of Seattle, Washington, Alexandra Jewett Markert and Meridith Maudlyn Markert of Macon, Georgia and 10 great grandchildren.
The family is very grateful for the faithfulness and devotion of caregiver Carolyn Waters.
The visitation will be on Sunday, January 20th from 1pm to 2pm at Snow's on Cherry Street. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday at Riverside Cemetery (North Gate). Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, 31210.
