Carolyn was born on July 3, 1930 in Lynnwood, CA to Edward and Genevieve Ward Humphries. She grew up in Mechanic Falls, ME, and graduated from Mechanic Falls HS in 1948. She married her high school sweetheart Richard Vigeant in 1950 in Michigan. Soon after they moved back to the Portland area and settled in a home in North Deering. Together they raised their two daughters, Gayle and Pamela.
Carolyn worked part time when the girls were young, and was a school volunteer and mom chauffeur. She enjoyed her fun activities with her girlfriends of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and spent many summer weekends with Dick and the girls at their camp at Coffee Pond in Casco. In her middle years she worked as a medical secretary for Dr. E. Fisk Hallidy in Portland, but later retired after many years from her favorite position as school secretary to Principal Sister Edward Mary at Catherine McAuley HS, Portland.
Carolyn loved to take short weekend trips with Dick to picturesque inns in NH. She was a fine quilter and an avid Celtics fan.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Richard, and also by her daughters and their families: Gayle Clarke and husband Ted and their son Ben and wife Kristina Clarke; and their daughter Joanna Clarke, all of Windham; and son Sam Clarke of LosAngeles, CA. Also survived by her daughter Pamela French and her husband Bill and Pam's daughter Abby Maddocks, all of Scarborough; by her brother Robert Flint and his wife Marion of Mechanic Falls; and niece and nephew Joy Childs of Westbrook, and David Humphries of Catasauqua, PA.
