Kenneth R. Thompson, aged 71, passed away at his home in Wyoming, Michigan, on Monday, January 21, 2013. Ken grew up on the northeast side of Grand Rapids, in the Creston neighborhood, one of twelve children to Willis and Helen Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter, Amanda Thompson, six siblings including his brothers; Ralph, Virgil, George, Leonard, Richard, and his sister, Helen Hicks. Ken is survived by his son, Garry (Kathleen) Thompson, daughter, Tammy Lee (Mike) Smalley, and grandchildren; Lena, Jessica, Megan, Cory, Autumn, and Chandler. Also surviving are his brother, Donald Thompson, and sisters; Rose Pellerito, Joyce Thompson, Patricia Spack and Valerie Brooks. In 1966, Ken moved to Wyoming, Michigan, where he spent the rest of his life. He worked for General Motors, Burlingame plant, as a set-up and maintenance mechanic, until his retirement in 1998. He was an avid car lover and enjoyed restoring muscle cars. Funeral services for Ken will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Reyers North Valley Chapel.
