La Verda Simington, born on May 5, 1914 in Van Buren, Missouri, the loving daughter of Allen Darrow Rose and Nancy America Keathley Rose, passed away on January 21, 2013 in Grass Valley, California at the age of 98 years. During the Depression ERA, she worked for the WPA, created by Eleanor Roosevelt, to provide assistance to families in need. She was also a gourmet Chef and worked during the 1960's for Chef Orchid in Alameda, preparing private and overseas meals for the airlines. She loved sewing, traveling, especially her road trips on old "66". Her greatest love was her family and she was very much a part of each of their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, and a Grandson, Nicky Aragon. She is survived by her children, Daughters, Patricia Baumkratz of Glendora, CA, Carol Tucker of Tulsa, OK, Sandra Varacalli of Roseville,CA, Son, Robert Simington of Tulsa, OK and a Son-In-Law, who was like a son to her, Paul Varacalli, eleven Grandchildren, Lynn Aragon, Michele Shoemake, Lance Aragon, Christopher Aragon, Michael Varacalli, Carrie JessePaula Rose, Anthony Aragon, Casandra Lawson, Sondra Pittman, and Anna Aragon, 20 Great Grandchildren, and many loving Great Great Grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday February 8th, 2013 at 2;00 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home Chapel. She will be interred at Van Buren City Cemetery in Van Buren, Missouri along with her Parents, Grandparents and other relatives
