Lewis Dexter Emerson Jr., 83 years old of North Palm Beach, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Lew was born in Newark, N.J. and raised in Pawtucket, R.I. He received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1950 from Brown University and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Lew worked for Pratt & Whitney in CT and FL for 38 years until his retirement in 1990. After retiring he enjoyed time with family, friends, and hobbies which included building model aircraft, boating, sailing, playing with his grandchildren, and puttering in his garage. He was preceded in death by his parents Clara and Lewis Emerson and sister Claire Stoecker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean; children, Laurie (Roland) Samuelson, David (Giselle) Emerson, Rick (Tammy) Emerson, and Scott (Lisa) Emerson; grandchildren, Eric, Evan, Garrett, Erin, Hanna, Alan, Sofia Emerson, and William Samuelson; nieces, Sandra, Susan, Karen, and Linda.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, February, 3, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 717 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach, Florida 33408. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of your choice
