He was born on September 1, 1926 in Groveland Township, IL to Charles and Nora (Warren) Hamann. He married Jane L. Taylor on July 24, 1949 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2008. His parents, four sisters, two brothers, one great-grandson and one son-in-law also preceded him in death.
Surviving are six children, Pamela Dowds of Pekin, Dennis Hamann of Peoria, Gwen (Tim) Bradley of East Peoria, Mark (Aileen) Hamann of East Peoria, Gail (Roy) Griffith of Morton and Kirk (Alisa) Hamann of East Peoria. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was honorably discharge in 1946 after receiving the Purple Heart. He worked as a Steamfitter for many years retiring in 1983.He was a member of the Steamfitters Unionlocal 353 for over 65 years. He was a Lifetime member of the National Home, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Purple Hearts #175, Am Vets Post 64, VFW 2078 and the Forty and Eight Club. He was a member of the Izaak Walton in Springbay and the Masonic Lodge #52. Kenneth loved gardening, antiques and his two dogs, Gracie and Jack. He also served as the Flag Chairman for the VFW 2078 for many years.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 2:30 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria, IL. Burial will follow the service at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
