Age 76 of Sacramento, CA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born on May 19th, 1936 in Hibbing, MN and later moved with his family to Stockton, CA in 1942. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Stockton and proudly served in the US Marine Corps. He started the U.S. Sewing Machine Co. with his father and ran their small business for over 57 years. John also founded Sacramento Aviation Management Co. and remained the company’s president until his passing. He was an avid aviation enthusiast who also loved hunting and fishing. He was involved in numerous organizations including the loyal Civil Air Patrol and the Sacramento Co. Sheriff’s Air Squadron. In 2012, the Sheriff’s Air Squadron honored John with their Jack Birch Memorial Award for lifelong commitment to aviation excellence and uncommon camaraderie with this fellow man. John was the loving brother of Corrine Hieb, Cecelia Casper and David, Urban and Daniel Didier. He is survived by his children Lisa and Christopher Didier, Matthew Mahan and grandsons Alexander, Samuel and Zachary Didier. He leaves behind a loving family and countless adoring friends. All services will be held in Sacramento beginning with a visitation on Monday, Jan 28th from 4:00-8:00pm and vigil service at 7:00 pm at Harry A. Nauman & Son Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, Jan 29th at 11:00am at St Robert’s Church followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. A reception will begin at 1:30pm at Aviator’s restaurant, Sacramento Executive Airport. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
